Sustainability: Beyond the Buzzword

personal development

Sustainability is more than eco-friendly products; it’s a holistic way of life.

It’s about reducing consumption, reusing resources, and designing systems that give back to the Earth to support a cyclical return of energy. Sustainability embraces practices like agricultural derivatives such as permaculture. Permaculture is a practice that focuses on working with nature rather than against it like traditional commercial agricultural systems in the united states which are incredibly destructive environmentally. On an individual level sustainability often begins in the home. Start by conducting a personal waste audit to identify areas for improvement—every small change adds up. We must first recognize our unsustainable habits that have been engrained in us from our capitalistic and consumerist modern culture which promotes living in excess and being wasteful out of convenience.
